( She pokes the side of his arm ) I hope you get to see her again too. You probably wouldn't recognize her!

[Now that's a surprise. He doesn't want to dwell on the overwhelming sorrow of how impossible it feels, so he focuses on the new information after steeling himself a moment.]

[He's a little worried.]

( There is a very Rikku smirk to be seen here; one mixed with smug and sly auras. She may or may not count Yuna's recent changes as a personal accomplishment... )

Let's just say she's learned how to say 'no' every once in a while. Adding on the fact that she totally ditched the Summoner's garb!

( She's having way too much fun with the vagueness of it all. )

[He knows that look. Trouble always follows that look.]

And, well, yeah. Spira wouldn't need summoners anymore, huh?

[He's not sure he wants to think about what she's driving at. Or does he?]

I guess not, ( she shrugs ) But that doesn't stop the people of Spira from turning to Yunie for the hope summoners used to bring. Even for their mini problems.

( She chuckles to herself as she thinks about her cousin )

I've seen her try to turn her back on stuff like that, because she really does want peace and quiet. Her heart's too big, though.

( a beat. )

Heh... guess she hasn't changed all that much.

( Rikku's very being quiets down; she wears a sloppy smile that originates from the bittersweet feelings that flow through her. She has memories of arguing with Yuna, last time they saw eachother, about the current state of their lives and what they were doing with them. And she is seeing now how right Yuna was in that argument. And how wrong she herself was.

She sighs softly. )

Sounds about right.

[That should make him happy. Wasn't that all he wanted for her future? Her bright, happy future with a new Spira and her old friends? Even if it was without him?

But he can't smile. Not when he hears that little sigh and knows Rikku's thoughts must be elsewhere. He nudges her arm gently.]

Something else on your mind?

( Oh, crap. Rikku doesn't have much of a guard when he's around, does she? )

Y'know, it's funny that after all these years, I still fall back into vulnerable Rikku mode around ya.

( She takes a moment to smile at that, but then shrugs )

Yunie and I had a bit of a bicker battle the last time we saw eachother. It's just that... well? ( She grimaces as she tenses up ) I got so tired of seeing her waste her life away on Besaid. I want her to make the most of her life, I want what's best for her!

( She suddenly curls into herself, watching as she fiddles with her fingers )

But talking to you now, I realize that I, uh. May have been projecting a teensy bit.

[He listens attentively, kind and non-judgmental as always. That definitely sounded like a problem. And...after all they'd done together, the sacrifice he'd made to give them all a future...it wasn't what he expected to hear either.

But he'd stop and think about this.]

Ah, so you're the one getting antsy. Can't say I'm surprised.

[A brief smile, then, but he's soon back to thinking it over.]

I tried not to think too hard about what you'd all be doing after I was gone, but...I guess I've gotta admit I hoped Yuna would enjoy being free too. Y'know, see the world, have some fun, maybe meet somebody who could be there for her when I couldn't anymore.

[Hell, this hurts. He thought he'd gotten over it already---apparently not. He had to bite his lip here.]

So I get being frustrated and worried about her, trust me. But...she's been through a lot, even without me up and vanishing on her, right? And apparently you guys did even more afterward. She probably just needs some quiet time---and I know she won't hold a grudge, Rikku. You'll see her and you'll make up.

But I guess how we're gonna use our lives has been chosen for us now, huh?

( Her chuckle comes in the form of a light-hearted scoff )

I guess it's just hard for me to accept that her and I lead different lives now. She doesn't need guarding - or a role model, for that matter - anymore.

( Have a pout, Tidus. ) Or... it was hard. Now I just miss her.

Guess you're right, though. We've gotta step up our games in this place, figure things out, kick some butt, and look good doin' it.

[Tidus listens as usual, gives her a supportive shoulder-pat, then pulls back with a wink.]

We're on it! But I think you're way ahead of me on looking good.

[He has shopped for new clothes. It...has not gone too well.]

( Rikku laughs at that and gives the side of his arm a light, friendly punch. )

I'd be lyin' if I said it was easy! You'll learn someday. Perhaps I can teach you, young grasshopper.

I think I'd like that. I haven't worn anything but my old blitz uniform for a long time---it's all kinda new to me.

[After a moment he realizes how that sounded.]

I mean I wash it, obviously! But it's my first time picking something else out in a while.

( Rikku giggles in her palm )

Well, I should hope so! You're a star athlete, after all!

( She suddenly brightens as though a lightbulb flashes over her head ) Heeeeey! We should go shopping together one of these days! I wanna find something as cute as me.

[Oh heck. He's just agreed to go shopping with a girl. This could be scary...but it's Rikku's she's always practical, right? He'll be fine.]

All right, let's do it!

( This is the part where Rikku bumps a fist in the air and shimmies out some of that energy. )
